Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Licensed in Texas, Maryland, Nebraska, Washington, D.C., and Virginia.
Born and raised in the Midwest, I spent several years practicing in the Washington, D.C. area before relocating to San Antonio in 2000. I am Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and assist clients in preparing everything from basic Wills and Powers of Attorney to highly complex Trusts and Wills to minimize estate taxes and provide detailed management and protection of their estates. My practice is focused exclusively on probate and estate planning issues and includes complex litigation involving Trusts and Probate Estates. I am licensed in Texas, Maryland, Washington, D.C., Nebraska and Virginia. Most estate planning is done on a flat fee basis where the total fee is established from the outset once the client’s needs are clearly established. This not only provides the client with an established and agreed upon cost, it also frees the client from the financial concerns associated with hourly fees which may otherwise prevent the client from requesting an additional meeting or requesting further information necessary to establish a full and complete understanding of his or her estate plan. Being one of a limited number of Board Certified Estate Planning and Probate Law attorneys experienced in litigation, a significant portion of my practice involves representing Executors, Trustees, heirs or beneficiaries in litigation involving a decedent’s estate under a Will or Trust. In San Antonio/Bexar County, these types of cases are heard before one of the two Statutory Probate Courts. Since most Board Certified Estate Planning and Probate Law attorneys do not participate in litigation they often require the assistance of a litigation attorney to handle contested matters in a Trust or Estate. Often times the litigation attorney’s experience is primarily before the District Courts rather than the Probate Courts and his or her knowledge of probate law may be limited. This requires the participation of both the probate lawyer and litigation lawyer to handle the case properly. Generally, clients are reluctant to hire two lawyers when they can hire just one. I am married and have two teenage children. My wife of 23 years, Laura, is a retired Lt. Colonel from the United States Air Force. Telephone: 210.734.7092 ext. 1118
