Bob Reed began his tenure as Of Counsel with our firm in February 1999. From the moment he set foot at the firm, Bob brought good counsel, a ready wit, a sense of humor, and, by the force of his presence, a reinforcement of the thought that in life one constantly should reassess and think about life's priorities.

Bob practiced in the Bexar County, Texas area for three decades. Before completing law school, Bob joined the United States Army during the Vietnam era. Following Officer Candidate School, he was commissioned an officer in the Military Police Corps. Now there's an idea: a police officer with a marvelous sense of humor! Following almost three years of service, Bob completed his initial legal education, ultimately obtaining his J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in 1974. Then, six years later, he obtained a Masters of Law degree from New York University in 1980, specializing in taxation.

With an emphasis on complex tax and business issues, including litigation, Bob developed a business practice that included health law issues for medical service providers, including issues regarding their internal structuring as well as their relationships with external professionals. Additionally, Bob gave attention to complex estate planning issues, including trust organization and operation. Bob held the highest rating from Martindale Hubbell since 1985.

Bob was born April 4, 1946, in San Antonio, Texas. While none of us were present for his birth, we all can imagine what a smiling, happy baby boy his parents were blessed to receive. Among his many civic activities, Bob's affiliation with the San Antonio Fiesta Commission defined both his character and his dedication to our city. Those in our office were only some of many who called Bob "Mr. Fiesta."

His ready wit, his jovial nature, and his good counsel were much loved and are sorely missed.
