Attorney Profiles‹‹ Back ‹‹ Plunkett & Gibson, Inc. - Laura A. Cavaretta - | I grew up in El Paso, Texas with two older brothers and three younger sisters. I attended Catholic grade and high school. I earned a BA in Journalism at UT El Paso, where I was editor of the student newspaper. Law school enabled me to combine my writing abilities with newly acquired research skills. I served on the St. Mary's Law Journal as an Associate Editor and was a Legal Research teaching assistant. After law school I served as a Briefing Attorney for then Chief Justice Carlos Cadena at the Fourth Court of Appeals. There I strengthened my research and writing skills and learned how the law can impact our daily lives. I began private practice at an established San Antonio law firm where I was taught that the lawyer's duty to zealously represent a client does not abrogate the responsibility to treat others with respect and professional courtesy. At Plunkett & Gibson, I am able to practice law with the best lawyers in San Antonio. We pride ourselves on our excellence. I have been fortunate in that I have successfully combined an appellate practice with medical malpractice litigation. In my 20 years of practice, I have defended nurses, physicians, hospitals, and other health care providers in both the trial and appellate courts.
